How to reduce comebacks with better training
Some comebacks are technical. Many are process failures: unclear notes, missed checks, weak handoffs, or no review of repeat mistakes.
Train the process around the repair
Comeback prevention is not only about repair skill. It includes inspection quality, documentation, parts verification, quality control, and customer handoff.
Review the last five comebacks
Look for patterns: missing measurements, unclear symptoms, skipped final checks, rushed communication, or repeated workflow gaps.
Build a comeback prevention sprint
- Pick one repeat failure mode.
- Define the proof standard.
- Assign one daily rep.
- Review at the end of the week.
